I am running Parallels 9 and Windows 7 64bit VM. I mostly use Parallels to run Autodesk Inventor, but I also enjoy playing games as well. The performance is fantastic, but some of the keys on the keyboard to not behave how they should. the game in particular is BattleZone II, in the game the tidal key ( ~ ), is required, but unfortunately it does not work in the game at all. However if I open notepad the key seems to work as you'd expect.

    Does anyone have any advice?

Did you get any answers? I'd like my control key to work alone like it used to. I now have to press both control and option key to get the control key to be recognized on the Windows side.

I sort of figured it out. Apparently it has nothing to do with parallels. The problem started in windows Vista, and is still present in Windows 7 & 8. It has something to do with the IR Driver for the MCE Remote. Sometime you can fix it, sometimes you cant. For us parallels users the best bet is to remap the key for the program were running. So for me in Battle zone, I remapped the ~ key, to Left-Alt. But apparently this issue affects allot of games, including nearly all Bethesda games, Fallout, Elder scrolls, etc.

So there really was no true fix for my problem, just a work around.

I contacted a software specialist for what I am running. She very sweetly on a Saturday night helped me out. And what did I learn after 16 years of running the software? I can actually remap that keyboard to my very own preferences! Go figure! LIke you, not a real fix, but damn good work around :)
