Hello, I use Parallels 9 with Windows 8 on an Imac (OS X Maverick)
A Windows program I use frequently (vArranger 2), needs a dongle usb stick to work.
With each new start from Windows I have to manually select this usb stick in 'external devices'.
Is there a way this selection can be automated when windows starts up?
    Thanks, Rudi

Parallels Desktop menu -> Preferences -> Devices tab

Select the device and choose "Connect it to the active virtual machine".

->Device tab, For some reason the machine would not accept the dongle, so all the "External Device" options were eliminated except one, the USB #2.

Then, check "Connect it to the active virtual machine".

Next, under the "Connect To" column and double click on the "computer", and a box will pop up with the name of the system IE Win. 8.1.

Click on this 8.1 and you will read IE. "Win 8.1"and it should read "check mark win 8.1".

    Then restart the machine.

    And this worked.

    Hi Rudi,

Please follow the steps suggested at http://bit.ly/1kCC1lU to Set a Particular External Device to Always Be Used With Mac OS X or Windows Virtual Machine.
