Seeking advice for moving Win7 from internal HDD to external or USB Stick

Willing to provide details as needed but here is the short version

    MacBook Pro (2008) Mavericks
    500gb HDD w/180gb available
Win7 running on Parallels 8 (upgrading to 9)

Can I save an image of current Win7 and reinstall on an external HDD or even a USB memory stick?

    Hi RWisinski,

Yes, you may simply copy the entire Virtual Machine by copying its .pvm file to the external hard drive. By default the Virtual Machine .pvm file is located in:

    Mac HD/Users/Username/Documents/Parallels

    or

    Mac HD/Users/Shared/Parallels

For more information, please refer below:

Once you move the Virtual Machine to the external drive, just plug it in to your Mac with Parallels Desktop installed and double-click on .pvm file. It will automatically register your Virtual Machine.

    Thanks,
    Looran
