Can't resize VM

I have a windows 8.1VM that needs to be bigger. There are no snapshots. Resizing fials with:
Resizing failed. An error occurred during the operation: internal error (0xffffffff80000009)

I have plenty of Mac disk space for the expoanded VM.

Help!

That is what I did. It died when I clicked "Apply" and gave the error.

It needed a
chkdsk c: /f
Then it worked. A better error message would help.

 

I had the same problem,
I could not believe on the post above instead I tried and James Rome has right, after the chkdsk c: /f
the resize was done correctly
