I would like to automatically startup Parallels and subsequently Windows 8.1 virtual machine when I start my Mac Mini. I've tried putting a Parallels alias in the Mac Startup folder in the Library, but it tells me it is an "insecure" startup item and won't execute it. How can I do this?

    Hi GarryB,

Please set Windows to start when Parallels Desktop starts from Virtual Machine menu => Configure=> Options=>Start up & shutdown=>Choose ''when Parallels Desktop starts'' under Start automatically.

To add Parallels Desktop for Mac to Login items on your Mac, please follow the steps below:

Log in to Mac OS X as the user who wishes to have a login item
Choose System Preferences => User's and Group from the Apple menu.
    Choose Login Items
    Click Add + sign.
Select Applications => Parallels Desktop for Mac in the dialog box that appears.
    Click Add
Parallels Desktop would launch automatically when Mac starts.

Excellent. I'd forgotten there even was a "Login Items" tab on Users in System Preferences. Works like a charm. Thank you.
