I use Parallels 9 on a MacBook Pro running OS X (10.8.5) to run XP Pro. Is the easiest most foolproof way to go to Windows 7 simply to eliminate the current virtual machine (Article ID 5029) and then install Win 7 in a new VM (Article ID 4729) from my new Win 7 DVD with product key code? Then I would install the few pieces of software I need to use in Windows from their original installation discs. Anyone have experience with this method and know any pitfalls?

    Hi JVTPAR,

The method you choose is full proof. You can remove the Windows XP Virtual Machine and create a new Windows 7 Virtual Machine using your DVD.

If you would like to migrate your files from Windows XP to Windows 7, please follow the article below:

    Hope this information was helpful.
