I have bought a new iMac on which I will want to run Windows via parallels desktop. I won't be using the old machine anymore and will delete the virtual machine on it after transferring it to the new computer.

How do I deactivate my parallels license for the old computer and activate it on the new computer?

Also are there suggestions for the best way to accomplish the transfer of the virtual machine? Will migration assistant work? (I recognize I will will also need to activate the windows license on the old machine and activate it on the new one.)

    Hello Steve,

Uninstall Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac by following the instructions as suggested at : http://kb.parallels.com/116992

Then install Parallels Desktop 9 on your new Mac : http://kb.parallels.com/116989 and it should work for you!

Also if you want to transfer your existing Virtual Machine to a new Mac, copy the .PVM file to an external drive and then paste it on your new Mac.

Then start the Virtual Machine on your new Mac.

Please find the information on how to transfer the existing Virtual Machine to a new Mac at : http://kb.parallels.com/114118
