Upgraded to OS X Mavericks with Parallels 6 in place. Upgrade options or screwed?

Howdy good people. Hope someone can help with this. In an eager effort to upgrade to Mavericks, I jumped the gun and installed without upgrading my Parallels v6 (i'm now reading that I should have upgraded to 9 prior to installing Mavericks). Of course, it will not open now that Mavericks is installed. In searching through the Parallels site I see that v7 allows an upgrade to v9 that will (in theory) keep your old 'system' in place, but it appears that 6 will not. Am I out of luck here in being able to use my v6 virtual machine anymore? Do I have to do a new install of the full version 9 and start from scratch? Or is there a way for me to still upgrade and retain my old vm? Any help is much appreciated.

Hi - upgrade from Parallels Desktop 6 to version 9 is possible from the technical standpoint. All you need is to install version 9 and it will automatically convert your existing virtual machine.
"Upgrade" is not possible from licensing perspective only - you will need to purchase a full license copy of Parallels Desktop 9.
Once installed and activated, your VM is good to go.
