Thanks, I will read the thread, see if I can get OS 9 running. I only intend to run it solely for curiosity, how it looked, how it operated, etc.
If you read the thread even briefly you will see that the answer is No. OS 9 can't run on an Intel CPU unless you run an emulator of some kind. I seem to recall there used to be something called Pear that *might* work, but you'll be piling an open source Mac OS emulator on top of Parallels on top of OS X. Good luck!
just scavenge an old mac they are turning up in dumpsters for free I found a 9 inch mac let it dry out for 24 hours and it just booted straight away Hugh W
I think you're referring to PearPC, but it hasn't been updated in a while. I found SheepShaver, I'm going to try that out instead. Apple has also released System 7 for free, so I'm going to give that a try, older operating systems are always interesting to emulate, so you can see how much the more recent releases have changed.
Search for Basilisk II. Works (worked) better for me on a PC, with OS 8.1 max I think. There is also a Basilisk for OS X by the way. But you do need a ROM image from a genuine non-PPC Mac. Mirko

I found Basilisk to be a lot more unstable than SheepShaver. btw. you will be running this in your Mac OS, not in Parallels.
