Windows 10 desktop cant receive an ip address from DHCP server

    Windows 10 desktop cant receive an ip address from DHCP server. I verified cable by using it on another pc. Adapter setting are DHCP. 169 ip address. I can ping myself.

    Wow. No answers yet! I didn't have any trouble with the install. I'm just wondering; Have you tried a static IP? does it connect with that? 169.254.x.x is a DHCP error.

    Are you set up for Shared or Bridged network?

    Shared is the default setting. The VM gets its address from Parallels, which talks to the default adapter on the host machine on the VM's behalf, and will not make a discrete external DHCP request for the Windows virtual adapter from within the VM.

    If you need to get a discrete external DHCP-assigned address, you will need to be set up in Bridged mode.
