Yes! The xml file T gave you was the original, but the changed file gave me another error. The hdd file, however is at zero bytes. I'll look at old Time Machine back-ups for a good file. There is a hds file with more than 21 GB that dates back to about the time I installed Windows 8.1. I may try to use that file as the hdd replacement. The worst that can happen is that I reinstall Windows 8.1 from scratch.
Reinstalled Windows 8.1 successfully! I had not allowed TM to save the Windows pvms. Now waiting to upgrade to Windows 10.
