Bypassing the "Preparing to upgrade virtual machine" lockout

    Once in a blue moon i used to get the small "eye" icon where i could manually take control, but lately when i see the "Preparing to upgrade virtual machine" screen i need to wait 10 minutes before it finally says "you may have to manually log in". If i don't then complete the whole process and then gracefully reboot, and then gracefully shutdown, then i'm hit with the same thing next time.

    Thanks for that, I'm guessing you mean the section regarding the boot flags. This used to work (although this was when I used to have the option to click the icon also). Setting this does absolutely nothing now.

    The problem is mainly on Windows VMs as others don't really use host services anyway
