Hi Wayne, we suggest you to upgrade the Mac OS X first and then Parallels Desktop to the latest version(Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac). At last you can upgrade Windows 7 to 10.
For your information, Parallels Desktop 7 cannot be upgraded to Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac. Only version 9 and 10 users are eligible for the upgrade. In this case you will have to purchase the full copy of Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac.

ok, BUT if i do it in that order, how will my old version of Windows 7 start to allow me to upgrade to 10? or will it work for that also?

Hi, after Parallels Desktop and Mac OS update you will be able to start your Windows as usual and then upgrade it.
