Help! I bought a mac and had parallels preinstalled. After much gnashing of teeth I finally migrated by entire dinosaur PC running XP to the new macbook pro. However, the new mac already had a windows 7 virtual machine installed. My old machine was crashing constantly and I would rather run the windows programs in the new windows 7 environment. I have two Problems:

    1. When I migrated the XP machine to the mac I brought all the headaches with it. 135 GB worth. I want to selectively move programs and files to the new windows 7 virtual machine.
    2. I want to use the mac version of Office with Word, Excel, etc. since I have it on the mac, but I will need to use it in the windows 7 virtual machine because of running another windows-only program that utilizes Word and Excel.

    What can I do?

    Hi,

there is no option of migration from one Virtual Machine to another and even no option from selectively migration from Windows XP PC to separate Windows 7 PC. You need to reinstall all applications you need manually ( you can contact support of applications which you have activation problems with - disable first activation and activate on Windows 7 machine). As per your data - you can connect old Virtual Machine hard drive to new one as a second hard drive and move all data you need manually (go to configuration --> Hardware --> "+" --> Hard Drive --> existing image file --> Specify the path to your old Virtual Machine).
