I have a serial device attached to a WIZ110SR Ethernet<>Serial interface. This is on my LAN, and I can successfully send data to it from the related Mac (OS X) application. I also have some 'test' software for that end-device, but it is Windows, and it launches in my Parallels/XP machine. The software is looking for the remote device to be on a Comm Port. How do I configure my Ethernet address (192.168.110.42:5000) to Comm 1 in Parallels or XP? Thanks, Brian
I presume you are talking about this: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9476. If it's ethernet-to-serial, meaning that you connect the serial side to some RS232 connection and the ethernet side to your network, wouldn't you just connect to the IP address of the device from Windows (like 192.168.110.43)? Maybe I'm not sure how this thing works.
The last sentences of my original post is the area where assistance is requested. The (Windows application) software is looking for the remote device (i.e. the serial device that is attached to the Wiznet) to be on a Comm Port. (This is typical) How do I configure my (Wiznet) Ethernet address (192.168.110.42:5000) to (be) Comm 1 in Parallels or XP?
