Ronald, Thank you! I know a little bit of the command line but not enough to run the fixes. I think I will install Windows 10 this weekend.. already got a few reminders to upgrade :-( Fingers crossed that my Start menu db will stay 'clean' .
Sorry I was traveling the remainder of the week and did't have time to give this the proper attention it required. Download the StartMenu.zip file and place it in the root of C:\. Right-Click and select Extract All... It will create a folder for you C:\StartMenu\ containing two files: ClearTDL.cmd RepopulateTDL2.ps1 Open a Command Prompt - Elevated (Run As Administrator) Change directory to C:\StartMenu\ Execute the ClearTDL.cmd. This will in turn call the PowerShell script RepopulateTDL2.ps1. I'm sure you can understand that I can take no responsibility what-so-ever for the results. In my particular case after having no Start Menu and running this on two separate occasions - it has in fact fixed my issue. At least to the point where I can add my favorite tiles back and continue to work without having to create a whole new user profile.
No worries! Thank you for your reply! I understand of course ;-) Everything is better and worth trying then every time creating a new user or new install.
Thanks. you script is very cool and save my windows back!. There is only way I tried and useful. but the script may take some risk. I suggest every one should make a snapshot before take the action.
