I like Parallels, so I want to help improving it:

    This message showed up once:

    ???

I tried to make a Snapshot once, but somehow I couldn't enter a description!!!!
Instead, windows seemed to take all the keyboard inputs, as you can see in notepad in the background...
    Odd...

I also like Parallels and thought that they'd be interested in detailed feedback. Unfortunately from my experience they're not interested in hearing about bugs or fixing them.

Well, we're only trying to help. (BTW, we won't get paid for this)
One the other hand, thats SWSofts problem, as they will lose customers if their product is too buggy.
And I know many people who do not possess the the courtesy of reporting a bug, but who just get thoroughly annoyed about it and switch quietly

I completely agree and understand, I guess I'm just a bit bitter after having spent time trying to workaround issues as well as reproduce and report them, only to get terrible responses from support.

If you can get anything more positive out of the company, good luck to you. Their presence on the forums is poor and support is (in my experience) terrible. Any company trying to build a good reputation need to listen to feedback and bug reports and deal with them courteously.

Yeah, You can say that again!
Good feedback & support is nearly as important as the product itself.
    REALSoftware does it right.
Their Product (REALbasic) might be a bit too buggy for a developing environment, but the support is awesome and they really listen to what their customers want.

    beta testing

modern bug reporting is done by a group of beta testers
    and handled statistically
what gets reported most gets fixed first

You never get a reply to bug reports because the programmers are too busy fixing stuff

I run my VM very conservatively - like a well maintained WinXP sp2 laptop

the only problems I have had have been caused by too little empty space on the Macintosh Hard Disk
    - best to keep around 20gb or more free

so now my VM images are on an external La CIE firewire 800 HD

VM Disk C 31.2 gb with 20 gb free

924 mb allocated out of 2 gb

Using PD for Mac since June 2006 and used most of the betas too

    5144 boringly uneventful upgrade

    just keeps on trucking
I kept a clone of the previous VM as a fall back

and clone the current one every Saturday

    just good housekeeping
    all data in shared folders

in fact the Mac >> my user name >> desktop folder and all HDs are shared as a whole

switching off the HD by accident cause the whole Mac to hang
    and need a hard reboot

but that was user error - my own fault

Just to be clear, I know about submitting reports, I also know quite a lot about software testing. What annoys me so much is that in trying to properly report problems to the company I get nothing but poor advice and misleading information combined with attempts to sell me things that don't solve my problems.

I'm not simply moaning because I can't get something to work, I'm dissatisfied because in my dealings with the company, they actually do not understand or care about customers needs or bug reports.

I have had more than a year of excellent service

including a quick fix when I really needed it
    moaning and groaning goes nowhere

the product works as is if correctly used
any machine will fail if roughly handled and badly maintained

a VM needs to be cared for like any top of the range laptop

Bootcamp I avoided because it is in long term beta and unsupported by Apple

It does not work as advertised. Ask plenty of other people here and Linux support is woeful. I've even had confirmation form support that the bugs I've reported are known issues but not been given any indication of any intention to fix them.

If you cannot accept that intelligent users are having real problems fine, but the company has to or they will find themselves in trouble eventually.
