I have my resume on my desktop. I type "resume" in the "ask me anything" box (search windows box) on the taskbar, and it can't find anything. It seems to be able to find it if I do it directly in an explorer window. But the Search Windows feature is not working to find it. Why? And how do I fix it? I have historically had problems with Windows search not working well on Parallels. What do I need to do so I can use the search functions with the same results as if I were just using a Windows computer?
Windows. I'm using Windows Search to try to find a Windows file on the Windows desktop. This is just a test--I know my file is on the desktop because I put it there and I can see it there. However, Windows search is not finding it when I type in "resume" which is the name of my file sitting right there in the desktop. If the Windows search function can't even find a file on my desktop, it is completely useless--it will never be able to find files in deeper locations, such as the Documents folder. Why is Windows search not working to find Windows files in very obvious locations (like the desktop)? Window explorer does a better job at locating files, but is still inferior to its performance on a real PC. What is wrong with Parallels that makes the Windows search function not work? What setting do I have to make to make it work properly?
Ok, thank a lot for the answer. Did you try the following: Click theStartbutton and type inSearchand click on the command "Change how Windows searches". Now click on theAdvancedbutton and select File typestab. Scroll down and locate your file type (in your case.php) and make sure that the radio button "Index Properties and File Contents" is selected for the file type.
