I am a newbie with Parallels. I am running the trial version of Parallels Desktop 12 on my Mac 10.11.3. I have purchased and downloaded Windows 10. I downloaded the Single Language 64-bit version. I also went through the whole install process of Windows 10 without any problem it seems.

When I try to launch Windows 10 from Parallels however, I see the expected window with
Windows 10 items (recycle bin, Windows icons etc) but the whole thing is non-responsive as if it were a screen capture. The only reaction I get when I click anywhere in the screen is that the mouse gets "locked into Windows mode" and a message appears on top of the Parallels window telling me to type Ctrl-Alt to release the mouse.
And Ctrl-Alt does allow me to use the mouse outside the Parallels window again, so I can toggle between the two modes for the mouse.

Hi @Doyle, please install Parallels Tools by checking here and let us know if that helps.

In the "Actions" menu it says "Re-install Parallels Tools", so this seems to indicate that they are already installed.

After some more painful experimenting, I realized that the app is not exactly unresponsive, but takes a very long time to react to anything. For example, today inside Parallels App, Window 10 took 20 minutes to be turned on ; 10 minutes elapsed between
my click on the Microsoft Edge icon and the first appearance of an incomplete Microsoft Edge window.

Even the "Turn off" functionality behaves like this too : I tried several times to "turn off the virtual machine" from the Parallels App menu and nothing had changed 10 minutes later.

The only thing that works instantly is closing the Windows 10 window, which has the same
effect as "Suspend" in the "Actions" menu (and showing as a moon icon in the Control Center).

I noticed also that every time I turn on Windows-10, I get advised and asked twice by a popup-box to reduce the amount of RAM used by the virtual machine because that might slow down my Mac (though I observe the opposite effect : the rest of my Mac works pretty much at normal speed, while Windows-10 is horribly slow).

Since configuration/parameter changes can only take place when the virtual machine is in "Turned off" state and the "Turn off" functionality does not work (or is very long to execute), I am basically unable to change anything in the parameters/configuration.

Perhaps I should delete the contents of the Parallels directory and restart the Windows-10 virtual machine from scratch ?

    Hi Doyle,
Make sure you have 8GB RAM on your Mac so you can allocate 4GB to Windows. If you have less than 8GB RAM on your Mac then it will reduce recommended size inside VM configuration but Windows 10 requires minimum 2GB to run but 4GB RAM is for normal performance. Also, make sure how many processors you have on your Mac.
