so i have noticed recently that in my windows 10 VM when i try to open an larger excel file, the VM freezes and parallels stops responding. checking activity monitor shows PD using 11GB of memory, the VM is using ~3GB (the MBP i'm running on only has 8GB total) i can force quit the PD app, and restart it and the windows VM stops locking up (VM does not actually stop when killing PD) this happens even when PD is the only mac app running, and excel is the only windows app running (beyond background tasks)
no. my post was not about excessive CPU utilization (i have the VM limited to 2 processors) - it was about the fact that parallels desktop (the app) uses excessive amounts of memory (more than the mac has physical RAM). why does the desktop application (not the VM) use that much memory when the VM is limited to 4 GB? again, it's the app itself i'm wondering about, not the VM..
