On Mac OS 10.12.6 on a new Retina iMac, after working great for a few weeks, suddenly Windows in Parallels stopped working. Beachball on startup. I had to go back to an early Snapshot of windows 10 with Parallels 13.1.1 Windows crashed and would not start. Don't know why. This has happened before. However, on getting back to an early Snapshot that finally got Windows working again, and after all the required Windows update, got it all working. Then shutdown Windows to set the Configuration Items. In particular wanted to set Sharing and Video. On all Configuration screens, unable to change anything. Not locked. see screen shot. how to resolve?
Hello RobertM31, please uninstall and reinstall Parallels Desktop for Mac. To uninstall Parallels Desktop for Mac, please follow as suggested below: 1.Please quit Parallels Desktop for Mac. 2.Click on Go(On the Mac menu bar) > Application > Right click on Parallels Desktop for Mac > Move to trash. To reinstall Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac, please use this link http://www.parallels.com/directdownload/pd13 and check if this works. Thanks!
No, didn't change anything. At least Windows work and Parallels didn't crash (which was what started this journey). any other ideas? I have an Ubuntu instance setup and Configure items are not grayed out. Only for Windows , and then some of them. So some progress. Button General: ok Button Options: Startup and shutdown, ok Sharing (gray) Applications OK Full screen OK Picture in picture OK Web and email OK Maintenance OK More Options ok Button Hardware: all items on left selector are gray Button Security: ok Button Backup: ok
Now nothing works with Windows, including reverting to any of the three snapshots I took today ... sigh.
I went back to even earlier snapshots and got Windows running. I left Windows running over-night. In the morning, I find that the Hardware button configuration items are not greyed out. I took a snapshot. Shutdown Windows. Then I changed the Hardware Option for turning on Retina video. Rebooted Windows. Working now. Reinstalling Parallels probably had nothing to do with the repair Probably Parallels could not change config due to whatever Windows is doing. Would be nice if Parallels could put a notice on screen for the reason the program choses to gray out menu options. There is a reason. All this trouble caused when Parallels was beach-balling and simply not loading Windows. Some sort of bug lurks.
Hi @RobertM31, thank you the feedback! This issue has been passed on to our Engineering Team and we will try our best to address these in one of the upcoming updates.
