    Hello,

I have a MacBook on which I had installed Boot Camp with Windows XP. Then I got a copy of Parallels (3.0 Build 4124). I uninstalled Boot Camp thinking that I will not need that once i have Win XP via Parallels. So using Boot Camp assistant I "restored" my hard drive to single volume.

Now in Parallels when I try to install Win XP I get a message saying -
"Virtual Machine cannot be started because of following problems -
The Hard Disk 1 is set to use the Boot Camp while Boot Camp is not installed on this computer"

Please let me know how I can resolve this.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers!
    Hitesh

    hi,
couldn't you specify your steps? If you did follow:
    1. Installed Parallels and created VM with harddisk points to BOOTCAMP partition
    2. Uninstalled BOOTCAMP
then it was big mistake from your side because you destroyed all Windows data that were present at BOOTCAMP partition. If you hadn't any important data at this partition and wanting now just using Windows through Parallels then startup Parallels Desktop, enter to VM configuration (you can use Edit->Virtual Machine menu for it). Delete there existsing harddisk virtual device that points to BOOTCAMP partition and create another one that will be using virtual harddisk image file. Apply changes, insert Win XP installation media, start VM and proceed with installation of new copy of Windows XP that will placing now at virtual harddisk image file.
