    Hi,

I'm new to both linux and parallels so bear with me. I just loaded parallels on a ubuntu (Feisty) and I'm attempting to install a winxp guest OS. I created and started the VM with the winxp install disc inserted in the CDROM but the CDROM never responded. I had a false start once when I went into filemanager and mounted the CDROM and while it was spinning up, I started the VM. I got the blue winxp startup screen but it only lasted a few seconds before going back to the black terminal screen. If this is not enough of a hint to what may be wrong, please let me know what other information I need to provide.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Personally, I was getting consistent errors when trying to install WinXP guest OS. My eventual solution was to make an ISO of my CD and install from that. It should work for you as well.
