I have given up flip-flopping to VMWare and back

  1. Given the amazing lack of transparency from Parallels in regard to remediation of Spectre or Meltdown compared to VMWare, I took a long hard look at VMWare Fusion Pro. VMWare has been putting out notifications and code in response to both exploits. Parallels - not so much.
From my standpoint I only need Linux VMs for development.
I have been a long, long time user of Parallels so I will take a long look at compeditors.
I'd like to hear what other users have done or are planning.

  2. After a long look at Parallels 13, VMWare Fusion 10, and Virtual Box - I have decided Parallels meets my needs best - running multiple Mint based Linux systems on a MacOSX base. VMWare has IMHO very poor integration with OSX files and folders, and has had some performance issues on the network side. VirtualBox is a valiant attempt and would be my choice were I to move to Windows for the host system, but that is unlikely and the MacOSX integration is weak as is the SMP performance (unavailable for MacOSX guests). I guess the years I have spent running Parallels (since 2009 and pre-release 5) helped my decision.
