Hello, Am in my 80's now, so please bear with me a bit. Have a relatively new iMac, which seems to work just fine. Bought Parallels, and just updated it to latest version. Have the following "problems," and questions, please: a. On the MAC side, there are two icons in the Dock. Both have the parallels red double lines thru them. One says: Parallels Desktop the other icon says Windows 10. Which do I want to use to switch to the Windows side ? Why. Differences ? b. When on the Windows side, opening up, e.g. , WORD or Google Earth, or most anything is just incredibly slow. I am not exaggerating; you can literally just about go out for a cup of coffee. Why ? Something I am doing wrong ? Any hints on how to make usable ? Might as well also ask: is VM Fusion "better" in this regard ? c. After I did the update, it is trying to install TOOLS again. The installer hangs up at 15 % of the install. Why ? Again, how to get around this. Thanks for help; really appreciate it. At my age now, I miss many of the nuances, so thought I would Post and ask you experts. After switching to the Windows side, it is just about unusable now due to the incredible wait time involved for anything to open-up. Once open, the programs do work. Again, Thanks, Bob
Hi RobertR18, You can find the answers below to your questions. a. One icon is for Parallels Desktop which will launch Parallels Desktop Control Center and another will launch Parallels Desktop then the virtual machine created on it. b & C. Parallels Tools needs to be installed in Windows for resolution, sharing and coherence view.
Hello Ajith, Just a real quick thanks for taking all the time to help me out with this. Nice of you. Really appreciate it, and thank you very much. Regards, Bob
