I need to connect a FireWire device to my guest Windows machine. Usually when I connect USB devices, Parallels shows me a question if I want to connect this device to Mac or Windows, but when I connected my FireWire device, it did not show anything and the device is now seen in Windows device list. However MacOS system report shows this device in the device list. How can I make sure it is accessible in Windows?

I found this article on the main Parallels web site and it points to another article - KB5161, which is unavailable as of now.

  3. @AlekseyM2, are you able to access your device via the Devices -> External Devices menu?

Excuse me, where can I find this menu?

  5. Click on your VM window and on the top Mac menu find the "Devices" tab.

    The fix is simple:
    1. Install a FireWire card into one of the open slots in the computer
    2. Using the instructions above, set the drive to Legacy.
    3. Reboot the computer.
    4. Then connect the FireWire cable from the video camera, into the new FireWire port that you just added. mybkexperience
