Hi Need a windows install for only small simple programs. The programs are using a USB cable to create virtual Comport for communicating with some devices. No network access is needed for the Windows VM. I have both a Win7 and a Win10 license to use for this (which one preferred?). Need advice before buying Parallels Desktop for Mac? br Lars
Hi, as I know Microsoft is stopping support for Windows 7: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsforbusiness/end-of-windows-7-support But you can install and use Windows 7 and 10 as a Parallels VM os and test both OS.
it'll be slow to boot more than likely with either OS, but 7 should be a little happier with the lower resources you'll have available - though win 10 should run okay as long as you give it as much ram as you can. i would suggest trying downloading the trial of parallels before committing, you can download the 90-day windows test environment which is windows 7 to try it out on your system.
