The fix for the opening parallels issue is to uninstall completely and use the Parallels in the App Store.

I have Parallels functioning now. However, when I try to open the settings for a VM, the app crashes every time. Any fix for that? Is there a way to do settings on the command line?

Can you use the Appstore version with licenses for the Online version?

Note the limitations of installing Parallels from the App Store, no Coherence mode and many other things. I went back to the downloaded.

I would edit the config.pvs file for that VM, with a text editor. It's XML.

I found the file, but it doesn't fix the problem.
i overwrite the RAM to 8192 MB and the VM shows me just 4000 MB.

    Sadly

no, not really. It shouldn't be a big thing for Parallels to fix the issue.
btw: the competitor's Tech-Preview is working fine so far. Maybe a future option.

unfortunately Parallels has come out and said they do not offer betas or tech preview versions like their competitors.

Since BS Beta 3 Parallels is no longer working!!! And the suggestion to use the App Store version of Parallels is not a good one if you are using Parallels off your BootCamp - because that version does not support that!

So, for the Beta 3 MacHeads, Parallels is a NO-Go at the moment...

It won't work until Beta 4 comes out, or Parallels changes something in their validation.
Their asinine solution, to use the App Store version of Parallels is not worth it, if you have ever had a Pro version of Parallels installed, or are running the VM of your BootCamp - that version does not support Pro VMs or BootCamp...

As some others have mentioned, here and other threads, the VM Configuration window cannot be opened and crashes Parallels Desktop as of Beta 3.

Is there any documentation on the current options in config.pvs? There is a LOT missing from the PDF linked elsewhere in these forums (as it was for version 7, not 15, lol).

Also, since it wont let me edit my reply:

For those using the installer version (as the App Store version is inferior): create an Automator application, with only one drop-in: Shell Script. Then paste the following text into the shell script drop-in and save it to Home (Your user folder) -> Applications as something like "Parallels Launcher"

    Code:
    export SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1
    open -a Parallels\ Desktop
This will add a launcher utility to your Launchpad that will launch Parallels Desktop and circumnavigate the launching bug, without having to launch from Terminal every time. You can even customize the icon to your liking and drop it into the dock.

The startup crash solution in the KB was to uninstall the Desktop version and install the App Store version. Ok, that works. But now I don't have features I paid for such as Coherence. Any solution to this?

I don't think the version you paid for claimed to support Big Sur ;)

The installer will not install on Beta 3.
