I have Parallels 5160 and Leopard 10.5 on an iMac 6.1. and have had problems since the Leopard install with the computer coming out of Screen Saver. It just goes black and I get a spinning disk. it never recovers so I have to reboot the whole mess. I just this a.m. turned off the screen saver in hope sit cures the issue until a real fix comes.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Any ideas how to resolve.

And for what it's worth I do have Time Machine running and not sure if that's connected to this issue.

    Hello,

what screensaver do you use? Is it a standard one or some special one? And does the computer experience this issue while resuming from a screen saver indeed or the machine has time to go to a suspended mode so it's resuming from it?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

It is the standard Apple Screen Saver and not sure how long it takes to go into suspended mode but in all likelihood it has gone into suspended mode when I try to start it up by keyboard/mouse action.

    Hello,

as we can't define yet whether your computer goes to a suspended mode indeed I suppose your issue is similar to the one we've already reported in the Known Issues for PD with Leopard thread.

    Check it please
Parallels is hanging on either suspending or resuming VM

    1. Right-click the Parallels Tool Center icon in the right bottom corner and select Exit.
    2. Shut down your VM from the Windows Start menu.
    3. From the Mac Finder, browse to the virtual machine folder (the default path is: Documents - Parallels - Virtual Machine). Find and delete the ".sav" and ".mem" files in the virtual machine folder.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

First off I'm not sure what "known issues for PD" means.

When I installed my Paralells I made no changes to the install routine yet my VM Disk is lcoated in users/name/library/parallels and the only thing in there were folders
    1) winxp
    2) explorer

and below the folder for winxp I have folders for
    1) Windows Applications
    2) Windows Disks, and files
    winxp.hdd, winxp.pvs and unattended.fdd.

But no .sav and no ,mem files.

I also noticed that power settings in systems preferances is already and has been set all along to "NEVER" sleep or go into suspended mode so the problem I am having in coming out of screen saver couldn't be tied to this. Right?

And suggestions on how to trouble shoot from this point?

    Hello,

what guest OS do you use?
Please, try to let the computer start the screensaver and show it for 10 seconds and then resume it - will the problem still occur?
When the computer freezes are you able to get to Activity Monitor and make a Sample Process for Parallels Desktop?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

I'm using Windows XP Pro - I reset the screen saver to start in 3 mins (the minimum) and it seems to be coming out of that okay now.
I have no idea what you mean by "When the computer freezes are you able to get to Activity Monitor and make a Sample Process for Parallels Desktop?"

I guess I can't replicate it for now unless I set the screen saver back to where it was. I'll try and if it's a problem I'll respond. Otherwise ???????
