Hi all, anyone having trouble with Altium Designer / Windows 10 and Parallels? Running latest version of all on a MacBook 16in 2019. Oodles of RAM and disk space available. When using Altium for more than a few minutes, entire Mac freezes for several seconds, then Parallels hard restarts the Windows 10 VM. Any idea how I can debug?
I had to revert back to Altium 16 in order to eliminate crashing problem. You might also want to avoid using Parallels 16, as it appears to have major issues with the Windows/Altium combination.
I recently upgraded from a MBP 15" to MBP 16" three weeks ago ( today is November 17, 2020 ) and I have had nothing but issues. It is tough to say what the issue is: new hardware, new OS, Altium also had a minor update to. Parallels had issues with Altium 20 in the past. I don't seem to experience issues with Altium 16. Altium 20 kind of sucks anyway. However, I like to use Draftsmen which will limit my work. I am trying to troubleshoot this. I may role back Altium 20 back a couple of minor revisions to see if that is the issue.
I'm running into trouble with this right now as well: parallels 16.1.1 on MacOS 10.15.7 running fully updated Windows 10 19042.630 and Altium 20.2.6, and I can't open a schematic. Just won't render anything in the schdoc window.
I upgraded to Version 16.1.1 (49141) and the problems seemed to have gone away. I have had no serious crashes. This seems to work. MBP 16" / 32 GB Configured for: Games Only ( modified ), 8 Processors, 20480 MB ( 20 GB ), Apple Hypervisor Enabled, Auto Graphics ( Always use high-performance ) I am including pictures of PRIOR to the upgrade when I did experience crashes for other's information.
