Have 1 week old iMAC, purchased Parallels 3.0 for MAC, installed per instructions but program will not launch. I un-installed/re-installed and I still can't get it to start. E-mailed tech at Parallels but that was friday so do not expect to hear anything until monday. Getting very frustrated, ready to return ALL to retailer and go back to my 10 year old Windows PC!! I see other people have had same kind of issues but haven't found the solution on this (or other) forums. Can ANYBODY please help me out??? Thanks!

BTW, the iMAC came with Leopard which I installed before doing anything.

You expect Parallels 3.0 to work with Leopard?

    Very optimistic. Read this

    http://forums.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=17665

and notice the words at the end: "at the end of the current Beta-testing program an update will be released for Parallels Desktop 3.0 with 100% Leopard compatibility and other improvements that are undergoing beta-testing."

Until the happy state mentioned in the quote above is reached, I will not be using Parallels. I've removed it from my MacBook (which is happily running Leopard).

    Hello,

rstill, was the installation of PD successful and it just doesn't launch?
There's a thread Known Issues and Workarounds for PD with Leopard and there's some similar issue is described. At least, I suppose it's alike.

Unable to launch Parallels Desktop after installing Leopard or Parallels can't find its drivers
    1. Reboot your Mac.
    2. If the problem still exists, uninstall Parallels Desktop in the following manner:
    a. Go to Finder - Applications - Utilities - Terminal.
    b. Type and run the following commands:
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/hypervisor.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/helper.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/ConnectUSB.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsnet.kext
    • sudo rm -rf /Library/Parallels/
    • sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels.*
Before you run these commands, please make sure that your VM hdd and pvs files are NOT stored in ~/Library/Parallels.
    c. Reboot your Mac and reinstall Parallels.
    3. If this does not resolve the issue, please send us the Error message screenshot and logs. To get the logs:
    a. Go to Finder - Applications - Utilities - Console.
    b. Click Logs in the left upper corner of the Console window.
    c. Click ~/Library/Logs and copy all logs from the Parallels folder.
    d. Click /Library /Logs and copy the panic logs and parallels logs.

    Will it help?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

    Hello,

do you mean the Parallels Desktop itself doesn't launch? Or it is VM which can't start?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

PD doesn't launch itself, when I click the Icon I get the message from OS X 10.5 that the program has been closed abrupt. I'd like to upload the problem report but it is too large to upload...
Have you already taken a look at the logs?

    Hello,

your build is 4128, it commonly doesn't work under Leopard, so you better update to build 5160.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

    Hello,

you have to download the latest version of MacFUSE to get rid of this message. You can download it here.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.
