Hello, please, try to perform the following: 1. Check, if Internet Sharing is enabled (Mac -> System preferences -> Sharing). 2. If so, please disable Internet Sharing. Installation will be finished properly. 3. After the installation enable Internet Sharing if required. Will it help? Best regards, Alicia.
tried turning internet sharing off, and it didn't help at all..... it does the exact same thing... freezes at the very beginning of the install script....anything else???
Ok, let's try another solution At the moment of freeze, open Terminal application (Applications - Utilities) and execute the commands below without quotation marks: * "cd /Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources" * "sudo ./preflight" Parallels Desktop for Mac installation should be finished properly. Best regards, Alicia.
parallels freeze Alicia provided a solution that involved using a Terminal command string. This looks like it is for an install from disk. I'm installing from a download with the .dmg on my desktop - can you tell me what the syntax should be for the command/
cd "/Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources" sudo ./preflight it's the command you should run. cd doesn't stand for "compact disc", it's for choosing a directory to work with. Best regards, Alicia.
any other suggestions? I used the commands as suggested - the installation window stays frozen. One other symptom seems to be that when the installer freezes I lose my wi-fi connection and can't re-establish this until I shut down and restart. Any other suggestions to help me install parallels?
Hello, could you please precise - you executed commands at the moment of freeze? Best regards, Alicia.
I responded in the time it took me to bring up the Terminal utility and enter the commands - probably a few minutes rather than seconds.
Please, try to do the following: select Macintosh HD on the left tab and click the Repair Disk Permissions button. And then reboot your Mac. Will it work? Best regards, Alicia.
I've tried going through the full routine again after repairing permissions. I dumped the installer log - I don't know if this is useful: Nov 16 15:38:13 Apple Installer[244]: @(#)PROGRAM:Install PROJECT:Install-374 Nov 16 15:38:13 Apple Installer[244]: @(#)PROGRAM:Installer PROJECT:Installer-276 Nov 16 15:38:13 Apple Installer[244]: Hardware: MacBookPro1,1 @ 2.00 GHz (x 2), 2048 MB RAM Nov 16 15:38:13 Apple Installer[244]: Running OS Build: Mac OS X 10.5 (9A581) Nov 16 15:38:14 Apple Installer[244]: Parallels Desktop Installation Log Nov 16 15:38:14 Apple Installer[244]: Opened from: /Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels Desktop.pkg Nov 16 15:38:16 Apple installdb[246]: Opened receipt database on '/' with schema 17.
