    Scanning the QR-code in a selected area of the screen would be useful.

    Yes, and that's why we've added a Barcode Reader tool in Toolbox 5.0!

    The current Barcode Reader reads Barcodes only via camera or via an selected image. But a code in a selected area of the screen is not possible.
    An example to illustrate how 1password does it.
