I'm on a M1 Mac with macOS 12.0.1. I use Windows once a year at tax time. Thus, I got Parallels 16 a year ago and put the Insider Program release on it and did my taxes. There isn't that much on the virtual machine so this isn't super important but I'm confused what is wrong.
This year, I go and buy the new Parallels 17 and it installs happily. I get a message from Windows that I need to update. Fine. But every time I try, I get this message:
We couldn't install updates because there's a problem with the date and time information on your device. Make sure your date, time, and time zone settings are correct and we'll try again later.
I've tried everything I can think of including rebooting the whole Mac. The date / time appear to be fine.
Anyone have a clue how to solve this?
    Thank you in advance...

Hi, please follow the steps mentioned in https://kb.parallels.com/en/128559 and let us know if you are able to upgrade to Windows 11.

The first page (Upgrade to Windows 11) did not work. I get the error about the time being misaligned. At the bottom of that page is a link to a page to install fresh which I did and it is working except currently I can't activate Windows because the servers are down. They have been down all day.
I will update if / when I can activate Windows 11.
I'm worried that my old Turbo Tax from previous years will not run on Windows 11.

I'm still wrestling with this. One thing that would help me is if I could get the hardware serial number of my virtual machine. My Windows 10 license is on a machine with the same hostname and a hardware id of "Parallels-DA 4B B5 87 ...". I would like to make sure this is the same host via the hardware serial number but I can't get it. For Windows 10, there is a wmic command but that has been removed from Windows 11. It would seem logical to have a way to do it from the Parallel's menu system.

My current message when I hit the "I changed hardware on this device recently"
We can't find any devices linked to your Microsoft account that can be used for reactivating the device you're using right now. Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account you linked to the Windows 10 digital license on this device or try again later.

Thank you for your help. I'm assuming this is a MS problem. This is the whole sequence from start to finish.

I hope they stay in order but I start in Settings and hit "Activate Now", then I hit "Troubleshoot", then I hit "I changed hardware on this device recently", then I hit "See other devices linked to your Microsoft account", then I get to the last screen and there is no where productive to go.
To add to the information: I had a Windows 10 virtual machine (ARM) and it was "working" except it says that the version has expired. At one point I hit the + sign to create a new machine and installed Windows 11 by selecting the "Windows 11" icon in the 2nd screen that Parallels presents. I installed and managed to activate the image. But then I got a strange message -- I know zero about Windows and I still was hoping to salvage my Windows 10 image by updating it instead of just replacing it. That's when I first came here.
Between the weird message (that showed up and disappeared) and the web pages, I decided to start over with the downloaded image as I described above. It would not activate. I've since deleted that VM and tried what I did originally using the icon presented by Parallel's 2nd screen to install a new VM. It also did not activate. Then I thought I would go back and get the Windows 10 working again (which I did) and try the Parallel's process again -- thinking that somehow it was needing the key to have last been used on a Windows 10 image. It will not activate either.
I also go to the MS account pages and delete the "Registered Devices" after I've tried to activate the latest VM several times.

I got it to work!! I'll report back in a little while with what I did. I want to make sure I can do updates, etc.

As I was writing my update I thought perhaps I should not be removing the old "Devices" from my account. So I renamed my "Windows 11" VM to "Old Windows 11" and installed a new Windows 11 using the VHDX image that is downloaded by following this page. I also logged in to my MS account via Settings and that process asked me to set my PIN before doing any updates. I went to System => Activate and set my "product key". Then hit "Activate Now" and it worked. I then did the updates.
In the link above I added an image of what my MS "Devices" looks like now with the old VM 9685 and the new VM 9371.
MS will NEVER compete with Apple. What total junk MS is.
