Hi! I'm planing to buy a new M1 Mac. Since I have more than one Windows-VM, which needs to be moved from the old to the new Mac, I'm wondering if the following will work. - Creating a Windows backup at the old Mac - Creating a new ARM-Windows VM on the new Mac - Running a restore from the backup created before. Thanks Dirk
Hello, we would like to inform you that an Intel-based virtual machine will not work on M1 Mac. But you can copy data from one virtual machine to another by following this KB article.
I know, that I can't copy an Intel VM 1:1 to an ARM Mac. But I wonder, if I can restore a WINDOWS Backup into the Windows on die ARM VM...
Is it possible to use disk/partition cloning software like Norton Ghost to migrate from VM on an Intel-based Mac to an M1 Mac?
The only thing you can do that's reasonably close to what everybody keeps asking is to migrate the user data from the Intel VM onto a new M# VM, but you do that by connecting the vHDD as a second drive in the new VM After you've setup that Guest OS. You'll have to reinstall any apps, etc just like you would going from an Intel Mac to an M# Mac device in general. It's all done manually (drag/drop).
