I downloaded an ISO of Ubuntu 24 but installation failed as an upgrade to Ubuntu 22 and installation failed as a new install. The installation froze on the screen titled "Develop with the best of open source" and I could not proceed and could not start the VM. Ubuntu 24.04 uses the Linux 6.8 kernel. I have Parallels v19.3.0

I installed Ubuntu Server Arm 24.04 first, and then installed ubuntu-desktop. No problems of any kind, including Tools.
    Parallels Pro 19.3.0

I have the same problem. I tried the suggestion of first install the server version and then apply the desktop. I went for the desktop-minimal version and perhaps that was a mistake as it works in principle, but there are odd errors during systemstart that can't get rid of. If they are serious or not, I have no idea and I think that time will tell. Hopefully will the installation problem be solved by then -- be it Ubuntu or Parallels that is at fault.

I was offered the 24.04 LTS upgrade within my 23.10 VM. It did install successfully. On startup, there are 2 system-networkd-wait-online.service/start delays that resolve after 2 minutes (each) of hanging, and a pd-mapper.service failure message. The desktop does finally appear after the 4 minute delay, and seems to work normally. I assume these login hangs will be resolved with updates of PD and/or Parallels Tools for Ubuntu.

I installed the Parallels 19.4 update, and updated the Parallels Tools in my Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VM. The systemd-networkd-wait-online.service/start delays and the pd-mapper.service failure persist, and along with a sessionc1.scope error during boot. Still, the desktop does appear normally after the 4 minute delay and the error messages.

    Hi Robert,

Please reproduce the issue and collect a technical report (click Parallels icon > Help > Send technical data > check "Attach screenshots..." > press Send Report) and send the report's 9-digit ID in reply to this post.

Thank you. The report ID is 467163648.
I now have Parallels 19.4.1 (54985) and there are currently no updates. I downloaded a fresh Ubuntu Desktop ISO and chose to install a new VM from an ISO. It loads and informs me a new installer is available and I let it download that and it puts a new installer icon on the desktop. I re-launch the installer from the icon on the desktop and it gets a few steps into the installation process and I can see progress, but then it freezes and does not install.

Here are some troubleshooting methods to try if you're experiencing problems installing Ubuntu 24.04 on Parallels Desktop 19 for Mac Pro Edition:

Verify Compatibility: Make sure Parallels Desktop 19 and Ubuntu 24.04 are compatible. It is occasionally necessary to apply updates or patches for compatibility with newer operating system versions.

Update Parallels Desktop: Verify that Parallels Desktop 19 is the most recent version you're using. Check the Parallels website or the application itself for updates.

Check the ISO File: Make sure the Ubuntu 24.04 ISO file you're using isn't tampered with. By comparing it to the checksum listed on the Ubuntu website, you can confirm its integrity.

Configure Virtual Machine Settings: Verify that the virtual machine has enough resources (RAM, CPU, and disk space). Perhaps Ubuntu 24.04

I have all the Parallels updates, and I got the ISO directly from Ubuntu's website. I allow the installation to use as much RAM, CPU, and disk space as needed. There are still problems installing. Thus I suspect the issue and the problem is that Parallels has not yet made itself compatible with the latest long-term-support (LTS) stable version of Ubuntu Linux.

Hello! I have the same "problem", loading time is much faster than reported by others but still annoying. I'm on a M3pro MBPro with 18G RAM.

    My steps were:
    - install ubuntu server (it's the only ISO for ARM right now)
    - update to current
    - install ubuntu-gnome-desktop with apt
    - install parallels tools

Parallels Desktop 20 just came out and that one supports the Ubuntu 24 LTS to be installed. It some early GUI issues, but installation completed, was able to run updates, and restart and it seems better.
