I'm using an Intel iMac with Parallels to run Windows XP. On the Mac side I can turn up the volume just fine but on the windows side with everything up as far as it will go it's still not loud enough. I've check the control panel etc. It's just not as loud. Output device is Default Audio. I've tried using Built-In Output too. Any ideas?
Hmm... What is the sound coming from on the Windows side? For example, have you tried playing a song in, say, iTunes on the Apple side then comparing the volume to iTunes on the Window side? Have you checked the sound level of the Volume in your taskbar?
Yes. The sound is louder on the Mac side and of course I've checked the task bar. I didn't really care until I signed up for NetFlix. Then it became a problem. I have to use ear phones. I then tried to compare with another VM I use for investors.com and same thing. Go back to the Mac and load the same on-line files and they're fine. It's gotta be something with the way I have Parallels configured.
I'm swamped at the moment, but I'll run a few tests and get back to you in a few days if Parallels tech support hasn't addressed the issue by then. I'm dropping the thread at the beginning of my regularly checked bookmarks bar, so I'll see it.
have you tried moving all the sliders from all audio? (double click on your sound icon on your taskbar) wave, line-in, sw_synth, cd-audio ... anything you can find, move the slider up. Are all 3 soundlvls high? Winxp General (as above), winxp application sound (i.e. itunes own slider), mac os sound. let us know if that solves anything.
Greetings! I'm getting the exact same issue. Windows 2k, SP4 Parallels build 5582 OSx 10.5 Leopard All my volume controls are at full, I've re-installed Tools. Rebooted the VM. Mac side works great, but I either get very low volume, or no sound at all depending on the program from the windows VM. I did migrate this via the transporter from my laptop. And all works fine on the laptop. Thanks! Anthony
Greetings; I managed to solve half my problems: I completely removed Parallel Tools from the win2k guest OS, and then removed the sound card driver. I did both of these in Safe Mode. Then reinstalled the driver, then reinstalled parallel Tools. I still have one or two programs that the sound isn't working in, but now the windows chimes and media player are fine. I suspect these special apps I'll have to remove and re-install. I don't know if that will help anyone else. If anyone else is having this issue. Peace. --anthony
