I have installed the trial version of Parallels Desktop on a brand new Mac Mini 2024. I copied the .pvm file from my old Mac running an older version of Parallels Desktop to an external HD and then to my new Mac. Upon trying to open the .pvm file, I get the error message To start "Vista SP2", you need the latest version of Parallels Desktop. "Vista SP2" was created in a newer version of Parallels Desktop and uses the features that are not supported in this one.

How can I fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

If your previous Mac was an Intel-based Mac, you would not be able to run .pvm/virtual machines created from that Mac on your Mac Mini M4 due to hardware limitation. As of now, it is simply impossible to run Intel-based Macs on ARM-based/Apple Silicon Macs like M4.

Not the answer I was hoping for, but I understand and appreciate the reply. Thanks for the clarification.
