How to update Kali 2024.2 ARM?

    Running Kali 2024.2 ARM64 as a guest in Parallels Desktop 20.3.0 on a M3 Mac (macOS 15.4.1). Installation done using the "Free Systems" wizard.
    Doing apt update and apt upgrade renders the system unusable, with the Parallel tools uninstallable after the upgrade and
