Docker Desktop fails to run on Windows 11

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    I have installed Docker Desktop and the WSL dependencies on a windows 11 VM, however docker fails to run, seemingly due to missing HyperV tools. Indeed I tried to add HyperV tools but the guest OS does not seem able to support them... how can I solve this issue please?

    Host machine is an M4 Mac

    Since you are running a Windows 11 VM on an M4 Mac, the problem is that Hyper-V doesn't really work inside that setup. Docker Desktop on Windows needs Hyper-V or WSL2, but nested virtualization just isn't supported properly on Apple Silicon. The easiest fix is to skip running Docker inside the Windows VM and either install Docker Desktop directly on macOS, or spin up a lightweight Linux VM and run Docker there. That way you will avoid the Hyper-V limitation altogether.

    Please note that currently HyperV tools and WSL is not supported on Windows 11 ARM version.
    We have already submitted a feature request to our development team.
    The team will evaluate the feasibility of implementing this functionality, taking into account technical considerations and user demand. While we cannot provide any guarantee on implementation and the timeline, we can assure you that it will be thoroughly researched.
