I am running Parallels Version 20.4.0 (55980) on macOS 15.5 (24F74) which in turn runs a macOS VM which is also 15.5. Host is running an M4 with 32GB RAM.

I find that the microphone and sound sometimes works in the macOS VM, sometimes not. And I've never managed to get the camera working in the VM.

If I close the case of the host, then open and switch to the VM, sometimes the microphone still works, sometimes not. The only way to get the microphone and sound working again is to stop and start the VM.

Is this normal and expected behaviour?

    Thanks!

For anyone else experiencing this problem I think I have found a workaround, if I reset the audio system in the VM then sound appears to start working again, I use the following command in Terminal:

    sudo killall coreaudiod

Of course there are many other ways to do the same but I find it easier from the CLI.
