Let's Encrypt add DNS-01 challenge method

Hi All,
The new let's encrypt feature is a good start, but currently only supports HTTP-01 challenge which means that we must keep port 80 open and cannot maintain an IP whitelist. The DNS-01 https://letsencrypt.org/docs/challenge-types/#dns-01-challenge makes it possible.

Couldn't agree more. This would allow for Geo-IP restrictions and other already mentioned security measures while still being able to utilize Let's Encrypt.

 

Please consider adding this as a priority. It would make many admin's lives better for the reasons stated above. I have Firewall issues that I have to work around that basically negate the benefit of automation that the current letsencrypt implementation provides. These issues would be solved by being able to use the DNS-01 challenge method.

 

Not sure why, after 3 years this is not at least under consideration? It has more views and upvotes than many other "under consideration" requests, and should be relatively simple to implement...

We have several customers with IP whitelist protected RAS connections and would be very helped with DNS challenge on Let's Encrypt
