Hello : I have been trying to install MS Server 2003 Enterprise R2 with SP2 and it will not detect the NIC on my MiniMac. I can log on to Server on SafeMode. But it gives an error message about "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license," if I try a normal boot , and then it logs me off. SafeMode with Networking does not work, either. It appears to detect the NIC during installation because it asks that I check the cable, if I unplug it, and the light is ON at the router for its port. I was able to install Tools and its NIC drivers, but something I noticed is that the Marvel 88E8053 does not appear on the Compatibility List at MS and if I try to have MS Server install a NIC, it detects a different version of the RealTek NIC (not the 8029). I have tried SharedNetworking, BridgedEthernet as well as the AirPort NIC, but nothing works. Help ! How does one install a NIC driver ? Or is it an issue of my version of Server ? Thanks in advance.
Just an update. I installed the trial version of VMware and have the very same issue :-( I will try and get a trial version of Server, from MS, and see if it makes a difference. Has anyone installed Server Enterprise on Parallels ?
Problem solved. Sort of. I downloaded an Evaluation Copy of Win 2003 Server Enterprise, from the MS site, and I was able to install it and configure it correctly. So, there must be something wrong with my retail copy of Server (I may have to burn it again, who knows ?). Anyway, the issue is not with Parallels Desktop. Thanks.
