Looks like 17.1.3 fixes the kernel modules for Linux v5.17. v5.18 was released this week, has anyone tried that yet? :)
Parallels Tools 17.1.2 was not compatible with Linux 5.17 kernels. An update to 17.1.3 was just released and that appears to work fine.
Parallels Tools 15.1.3 still has this problem, but the above KBUILD_EXTRA_SYMBOLS fix worked for me.

The guest tools for 14.1.1 seemed to install ok for me with 4.20.6. Same old gdm problems with Fedora 29, though.
