I had the game running under Parallels 4 but in 5 I get BSODs in Windows XP after choosing my character and a dll error in Windows 7. Fault Module Name: prl_umdd.dll Fault Module Version: 7.14.10.9220 Google has not been my friend looking up that dll file so any ideas welcome.
I'm getting the exact same issue with Windows 7. Here is the Error Log Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 11/4/2009 6:24:53 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Parallels Description: Faulting application name: pol.exe, version: 1.18.12.0, time stamp: 0x49bfb399 Faulting module name: prl_umdd.dll, version: 7.14.10.9220, time stamp: 0x4aeefced Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00006c07 Faulting process id: 0xad4 Faulting application start time: 0x01ca5da5fe3506cd Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\pol.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\prl_umdd.dll Report Id: 40afd00f-c999-11de-a1ba-001c4200a7ca Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-11-04T23:24:53.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>2612</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>David-Parallels</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>pol.exe</Data> <Data>1.18.12.0</Data> <Data>49bfb399</Data> <Data>prl_umdd.dll</Data> <Data>7.14.10.9220</Data> <Data>4aeefced</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>00006c07</Data> <Data>ad4</Data> <Data>01ca5da5fe3506cd</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\pol.exe</Data> <Data>C:\Windows\system32\prl_umdd.dll</Data> <Data>40afd00f-c999-11de-a1ba-001c4200a7ca</Data> </EventData> </Event> Now from what I can see the .dll is the new Parallels video driver. If I turn off 3D acceleration and start POL it works. Looks horrible but works.
I see you were running the x64 version too so I tried installing my x86 version but still have the same error so it seems it is not an x64 error.
Its a Video Driver issue. I reverted back to a non-WDDM driver. The Game launches and I get to the character select screen and then I get a BSOD. I really hope they fix this issue.
We actually need some help from game owners. PM me if you'd like to help. luke55, you have a private message.
Wish i read this form before upgrading. FFXI crashes on Vista 32 bit running via parallel DT 5 in roughly in 2 sec after clicking on it. Also, i'm getting a black screen at log on to vista which once i click a bunch on where the start menu should be the screen then appars, is this also part of the video issue or a bad install
I have this issue as well. I am willing to help troubleshoot it when I have a little time. What would you need to know?
Having the same issue (FFXI current, Vista Ultimate, Parallels 5). Willing to help if you can troubleshoot
FFXI Broken Macbook Pro 17 inch New Mac is fine but FFXI is broken in when running XP under Parallels 5. Matches above description I hope there is a patch coming thanks! Ken
Final Fantasy XI crashing This happens when switching from Login Screen to Game. Macbook Pro 15" NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT Mac OS X 10.6.5 Parallels: Build 6.0.11990 Guest OS: Windows XP 32 Bit
Same here. I tried the lastest build (Build 6.0.11992) and it still crashes when it switching from login screen to game. I am back to Parallels 5 now. Unless it fixes in the next build, I will not using Parallels 6 :-(.
Any update on this? I just bought Parallels for another purpose, but I'd love to be able to do quick Auction House checks from my Mac partition without having to get all the way over to the Boot Camp side of things. I'm on a 15" MacBook (late 2007? mid 2008?) which will be running XP Pro SP3 as the guest OS.
It works for me. Parallels 6.0.11994, Windows XP Home SP3, Macosx 10.6.6 It could probably use a little more memory and CPU speed but works pretty well. I've gotten in and traveled from Mhaura to Jeuno no problem.
Seems to be working so far, although I have crashed it a few times. I wouldn't try claiming NMs or fighting much, but for poking at the Auction House or just saying hi to the linkshell it's not a big problem. Using MacOS 10.6.6 on a 4GB 2.4GHz somewhat older MacBook Pro running WinXP Pro SP3 on Parallels 6.0.11994. One thing - don't try to resize the window while it's running. It does Not Like That. Coherence mode seems to work fine. I just wish it didn't take three minutes or so to get the virtual machine running; it's probably about as fast to actually reboot into Boot Camp and go from there, without nearly as much crash risk, but it's nice to have the Mac windows remain open too.
