We are having some issues with speed with certain printers with our program for a customer. We are using the latest and greatest XG 10.1 with the latest client with Universal Printing. When a user prints to a HP 4050 (Postscript Driver) it prints very fast (2-3 seconds to start printing) through 2X. However they also have a Minolta Bizhub C360 monster printer (also Postscript driver) that takes 30-40 seconds to begin printing one page for the same document through 2X (FileMaker 12 in this case). Local Applications take 2-3 seconds on that same Minolta printer so it's not the printer itself. I've tried various combinations of PCL drivers, direct printing, network printing, etc. Regardless the Minolta just takes forever to start printing. I get the same result when changing universal printing from EMF, BMP, PDF, turning on and off downloaded fonts, etc. The fastest is EMF, without downloading fonts, but it's still 30-40 seconds to begin printing just one page. My question is whether the new RAW printing feature on 10.5 will speed this up or not. What has been everyones experience on this new feature? This is used in a dispatch environment and they don't want speedy printing. Thanks, Scott
hey man, but is the format used RAW for that app or not? if not i am not sure it will make much difference for you. tbh on my installation we upgraded from 10.1 to 10.5 speed wise is the same, only cool thing is that now i can print from crystal reports...
