OK I installed 1920 and my two now-useless VMs still don't work -- still their windows vanish shortly after power-on. Ever optimistic I used 1920 to create a new WinXP VM -- this is the third time I have gone thru the WinXP install for a VM. Just like the previous times, the install went great, downloaded firefox as well as 30 or so "automatic updates" from Microsoft. That was yesterday. Today I started up the new VM and it came up fine, so I went to VM>Install Parallels Tools and started that process. The message about the tools installshield wizard came up on the VM screen. And then the VM window vanished and I was back to the Properties window. The critter poofed during Tools install! And now when I try to restart it, the window vanishes just after the Win splash screen comes up. This would be my fifth, I think, VM that has displayed this behavior. I have never had a Win VM that stayed up more than 5 minutes on its second day. After investing a number of hours in playing around with Parallels I have no working VMs at all and can get no productive use out of Parallels at all. I've offered to give my time free to help debug it. I would be happy even now to copy the .pvs and .hdd to a DVD and drive them personally to Parallels HQ and demonstrate this easily repeatable failure. Parallels staff have never acknowledged this problem which I and others have described here. There has never been any reply to the trouble reports I filed using the support request email form. And now they have a "release candidate" that doesn't address the problem. I'm just that close to demanding my $75 back. Dave Cortesi
