We have recently been able to crash our 2X Web Portal. We have spent a week trying to resolve this, with some help from 2X. The Issue Install 2X Application Server. Install 2X Web Portal. We are currently using version 6.2 build 528, but the same is so with version 7. Now we install Crystall 11.5 Run time. This is a package which we have built with a number of merge modules supplied by Business Objects. After rebooting, the 2X Portal fails to display the login page. The cause is interesting. Both systems use a file name 'libeay32.dll'. This is a open source file to handle SSL Encryption. The file installed by 2X is version 0.9.8.0, size 1.03Mb and modified date of 5 Jan 2009. Crystall 11.5 Run time copy of this file is version 11.5.9 (matches the run time install), size 624K and modified date of 25 Nov 2007. Question is, who is using the original file and who had modified it. Reading the dates and file size, it looks like 2X have changed this file. But the file from Crystal has a Copyright(c) notice for Business Objects, so have they taken bits out. Crystal copies this file regardless of whether it exists or not. 2X doesn't copy the file. If I copy the file which was provided with 2X, I get my login screen. I can also run Crystal Reports though our application. I am posting this on the Business Objects forum, but whoever is the guilty party for changing this file, YOU SHOULD NOT BE PUTTING IT IN THE WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 FOLDER, and you should be renaming it.
I have had an interesting response from Business Objects which I thought I should share with you. They could potentially cause you a problem. Bussness Objects Response: You may want to include with the distribution of 2X Application Server of potential issues with Crystal Reports RunTime. I believe, based on the version of the file installed with 2X, that you haven't made any changes. Business Objects have admitted to making changes and 2X is part of the 1% of applications which they screw up. James
Hi, We have resolved the issue there are improvements on our side already published see below. Open source has nothing to do with it, it's just a different official version. These binaries are now placed in WebService folder so as to avoid any dll conflicts. Kindly find the version with improvements at http://www.2x.com/applicationserver/downloadlinks.html was updated in version 7.3.741 see changelog http://www.2x.com/downloads/vds/2XVDS-ChangeLog.txt Thanks for sharing though.
