Does anyone at 2x have an idea when the Mac Client will be upgraded to be able to have some additional features. Things like Local Mapped Drives, Universal Printing, URL redirection, etc.
Same question here. HUGE drawback not being able to access local files. Seeing that its been about 5 months since this post an nobody has responded should I take it that 2X doesn't care to comment?
Not to mention the nasty timezone issue in the latest version 7.3.753 I log in from Australia/Melbourne timezone and I get the server showing me +10 hrs from my local time. This is particularly nasty given that we are using 2X to publish a time sensitive application. No such issue logging on from a Windows PC.
I don't know about you guys, but I have awful performance from Mac to Windows 08 ts with 16bit color. 256 colors is fast, but it sucks. No problems from PCs to the same TS. More important, way better using regular Microsoft RDP.
Hi All, I had to get the whole farm downgraded to Windows 2003 due to the Mac client. Had lots of functional issues with Windows 2008 TS and Mac Client like the mouse disappearing whenever the windows frame is selected. Good news is 2x is aware of these issues and hopefully Q1 next year there should be a new version of the Mac client. Hopefully ....
bummer. I was hoping December 09 based on prior conversations; so much for that. The load-balancer has been huge for us but they fell short on almost everything else. One good thing, I just figured out this week, is that user environmental variables are supported by 2x but not by Windows 2008; I have a need to use %username% in some of my apps, this is one feature 2x has been great for. I look forward to new releases.
Eneran, It appears that the issue with the time zone redirection has been corrected with the latest version of the Mac Client (v7.3.768). Unfortunately it still hasn't fixed some other problems ie: - Num Lock status not passing through to the 2X session. Works fine in Windows client but on the Mac you have to hit Num Lock (on a Windows keyboard) or Clear (on a Mac keyboard) to activate the number pad every time you log in. - Screen resolution/ mobility for published desktops. I have endless frustrations with not being able to get the right resolution or even modify the resolution either through connection properties/options or from Display Properties within the session. Some servers go right off my screen when I log in with some huge resolution so I have to constantly scroll around with scroll bars to see all of the screen. Others bring up the the server desktop with the exact resolution of my MacBook LCD which is fantastic but then I can't figure out any way of moving that desktop to my secondary monitor. The Microsoft RDP client handles this great, you can press 'command + 2' to toggle between full screen mode, then once it's off full-screen you can drag that RDP session window around (ie onto the second monitor) and then maximize (green button) the window so that it takes up the space it needs or use 'command + 2' again to make it full screen on the second monitor. I like my Mac 2X Client, but if these couple of things and the others mentioned in this thread were fixed it would be in love!
