Guys made you could help me with my 2X Printer problems. The problem is only administrators and users not cache to the computer can print with the 2X Universal Printer. The error message I get is "your client does not support 2x virtual printing". I'm running version 8.0 on both the servers and clients. HELP PLEASE!!!

    Hi,

Note that 2X Universal Printer works only on Windows Clients.

    Thanks,

    Hi fricart

We had exactly the same problem & it is known to 2x.

When you install to SOME windows pcs, the 2x printing client is only installed in the registry for the user who installed it. This is obviously a problem if you need admin access to install !

We added the required users to the admin group & re-inbstalled but that is not really a solution. If I remember, 2x have a registry fudge to get round this - send them an email.

    Cheers

How do you install the software? Do you use some deployment software or do it manually?

Have you tried adding ALLUSERS=2 To the msi
You can do that via command line or add it to a transform file

springbox: I did get a chance to talk to 2x tech support. Their conclusion was the user's profile was corrupted...not their software but the profile
So I would have to go to each computer and blow away the user's profile if I want the 2X Universal Printer to work.

chouinard: We install the software two ways. One with Group Policy the second manually. Yes I tried the ALLUSERS=2 and I still have the same problem.

    Hi fricart

From memory, this issue has cropped up before on this forum. I thought 2x said they were going to fix this in a later version of the install.

Like I said, we never fixed this issue on XP and never really got to the bottom of why it affects some pcs and not others but I'm sure someone out there would have a regstry "hack" to make up for the install.

    Good luck

    Hey SpringBox,

All the servers and clients are up-to-date with the latest software from 2X. So I think they probably forgot to add in the fix. Lol.

I'll try to search for the registry "hack". Thanks for the heads up.
